I have been thinking about rufous songlarks. My impression is they occur in the
N West of ACT more than elsewhere.
COGOIS for Jan 2000- Dec 2003 yielded 100 records. To do a quick check I
divided these records into NW, NE, SW and SE by dividing COG grids at COG Map L
(Slightly East of civic) and 13 (Lake Burley Griffin).
Out of 100 records
NW = 43 NE = 12
SW = 36 SE = 10
Of course there are many potential biases with this data, eg the number of
searches/observations in each area. You may want to cut the ACT/Area of
interest up differently. I probably made some errors, doing it quickly. But I
think it does provide an indicative result. The records over the past 4 years
suggest most records are in the West either N or S of the Lake. Although there
are more in the NW this may not be significant.
