G’day all,

 

In the latest CSIRO bookon Australia’s vetebrates which is going off to the publisher today we have Black-fronted Dotterel and Red-kneed Dotterel. Like a lot of names, eg pigeons and doves, they are often interchangeable. There is (or was) a committee from the old RAOU, now Birds Australia, who sorted out common names some time ago. I don’t know if it still exists.
