Hi everyone,

Went up Majura yesterday arvo in search of GBC.
Found a pair (the residents?) quietly feeding very near the summit and then further down the east face at 35 14 32 149 10 57 found three birds which were the family that I saw at the dam.
The female has a very yellow face.
While watching these birds I could hear more birds in conversation further downslope.

The young bird is probably not recently fledged as I had imagined. It most resembles the description of Juvenile male in HANZAB. Yellow spots on the wing coverts but I couldnt see any on the face. Tail panel is much paler than the illustration more pinky yellow and heavily barred, not shorter than the adult.
The trio flushed when I was still 50 meters away and the female seemed very wary. The young bird begged loudly for about 20 mins until they all settled down to feeding again.
The young bird feeds itself eating at about the same rate as the adults but taking more time to secure each new cone and noticeably more clumsy when climbing around the tree with a cone in its beak.
They fed together till about 16.40 when the adults flew quietly away leaving the youngster which continued feeding.
