That's a new variation of the tale for me.  Alas, I believe it belongs
firmly in the "urban legend" file:

Indeed, the Mythbusters (on SBS TV, Monday? at 7:30pm) have tested
the story at least twice in their shows:

If you haven't caught up with the Mythbusters yet, I can thoroughly
recommend it; the science can be a bit shaky, but it's entertaining.
