Thank you Roger. Whatever, those domestic strains of
both species are excellent eating, the flesh of the muscovy resembling that of a
goose rather than the normal anaemic purveyed 'duckling'. Participants in
the COG easter campout some years ago near Tullamore, brilliantly conceived and
led by Ian Fraser, might recall the flock of duckicidal gang-raping
muscovies owned by our host, Janet Mortimer. Persistent
offending by those dark, heavy-breathing males, twice the size of their
victims, led to her kind offer of a few for the table, gratefully
accepted by me. Our ensuing adventures in getting a couple of the
free-flying rampagers into a state fit for the esky make an interesting story,
but not one, I think, appropriate for this
chatline.
