I visited the burnt out remnants of Ingledene Pine Forest yesterday. Ingledene is located on Smith's Rd between Angle Crossing and Tharwa.
A few surprises including a lone Diamond Firetail in a burnt tree amid the wasteland and right on dusk I disturbed what was possibly an Owlet-Nightjar. The bird was hawking low and fast over the scarred landscape. It is possible that it could have been a White-throated Nightjar as I didnt see any wing spots, but it was too quick and must have landed on the ground somewhere as there are no trees for miles around and I couldnt find it again in the twilight. And I thought Nightjars left the local region to migrate north during winter.

Cheers
