I have seen Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters in flocks in the ACT, even in
summer along the Old Bobeyan Road.
I believe that one could insert frequent, uncommon and occasional in
between common and rare.
To me a common species is one that is observed virtually every time
one visits the appropriate habitat and frequent refers to a species
that is observed let us say at least one in three times. Uncommon
might mean that if you work at it you should find the species in 10
or so attempts. Occasional may mean that the occurrence is of such a
frequency that there are periods that how ever hard one tries the
species will not be observed. These may also be qualified with terms
such as regular or sporadic. In my mind Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters
are regular but uncommon, although if one targeted them specifically
one might find that they are regular and frequent in small numbers.
