Geoffrey raises a good point. There are several places in the gardens where birds can walk in for a drink (and Bronzewings do) but Rosellas rarely visit them.
 
When the Swifties visited Mt Majura I was surprised by their preference for the more exposed top of the drain as a drinking site. Many more birds of all species drink from that drain than from the dams on the reserve.
 
Perhaps they recognise these sources as cleaner ie. free of worms and other parasites?
If anything the tap water would be lower in salt content than dam water.
