For all those who appreciated the fresh-mint-leaf-in-bird-bath hint to keep the algae down, here's a second hint. This time a possum deterrent. Apparently a strong brew of Lapsang Souchong tea (when cool) can be sprayed on plants, the rope holding the bird-feeder etc. to deter possums.

I am trying it, along with a chicken wire cover, as the garlic-water spray which worked well last year to protect my rose shoots, is not strong enough to keep the blighters away from my new pansies and parsley. Poor hungry possums have eaten the lot!

Cheers, Janette
