I went to Perceival Hill yesterday arvo. Saw 2 varied sittellas, 20 or so redbrows, 2 yellow tailed blacks, a pair of speckled warblers, interestingly one bird worked its way to the top of a gum tree, then flew >50m across an open paddock into another tree. A dozen striated thornbills, other thornbills. Strangely no tree creepers or robins. Also hoary headed and Australasian grebes, hardhead, grey teal, others. From this dam in the SW edge, a bird of prey, either a hobby or peregrine, probably the latter, took off with a large bird in its talons (maybe a waterbird), the BOP was finding it difficult to gain height. I followed but could not relocate the bird. No plants in flower. Along William Hovel the last 2 weeks (between Coulter and Bindubi) I have seen a brown falcon on the wires at least 3 times, and a flock of about 12 peewees- although dwindling, originally was 40.
