I
banded the butcherbird. Mark Clayton banded the Kooka. I've banded a Kooka
before. Quite an easy bird to control in the hand really. Holding the birds for
photos is straight forward. The kooka doesn't bite much, but the butcherbird
does, hence the leather gardening glove. We also banded a galah which took a
chunk out of Andrew Newbery.
Never
mind the large savage looking bills on those two. You should have seen the evil
look in the pardalote's eye...

I was most impressed with Anthony's bravery in
tackling pied butcherbird and kookaburra. Then I realised he was at a safe
distance holding the camera. Who was the hero holding the
birds?
While the gallery does not yet have a photo of a
pied imperial pigeon this can surely only be moments away. On this topic I
received Paul Taylor's response before Alastair's (second) message. This
confused me (more than usual) and led me to wonder if Paul had been sharing the
contraband.
