Yesterday morning at around 9.45 there were 12 brown quail at the picnic ground on Diddams Close near the western end of the Ginninderra Dr bridge. The birds were feeding on the edge of the cut grass and whenever they were alarmed would scurry into the long grass to re-emerge when things quieted down.

Yes it's a Brown Quail! Rejoice, all lovers of Lake Ginninderra peninsula. They are back. Or more probably, we all, including the faithful quail dog, have merely missed them for a year or so. Roger, PLEASE put in a record. The peninsula has been such a reliable spot for this species for many years and their return/resighting is wonderful news. b
