On Saturday
Duntroon ovals: 151 straw necked
ibis
Jerrabomberra wetlands: Whistling
kite, 1 yellow billed spoonbill, 2 black shouldered kites, ~50 pink ears and
5prs of shovelers. 2 red kneed dotterels. 4 cattle egrets.
The easiest way I think of
identifying cattle egrets is that they have a high forehead, whereas little and
intermediate have the beak almost running in line with the top of the skull.
Little egrets have black beaks. Cattle egrets seem to stand in a hunched
position like Quasi modo, whereas the other egrets look more 'graceful' with
curved necks.
