Hi All,
Twice a week or so I take my battered old canoe up the South End of
the Lake,it's interesting to see just how many Darters and Cormorants are
actively nesting, another feature on the Duntroon Arm are what I call water
Chameleons, these creatures generally about 600 long whilst not generally
seen,if one is seen then, you may be assured that, as if they are driven by
some group conscience you will likely see four or so.Today was a good day
for our lizards,I saw five one of whom was quite actively harassing a Darter
on a nest with only one dependant bird in it.The lizard was quite careful to
stay out of reach of the Darters savage beak, but the half dozen or so empty
nests and a single active nest with only one dependant flutterer, begs the
question as to the likely predation of Darters by Lizards.Has anyone seen
similar activity?
Regards,Terry Gourlay.
