My impression had been that the birds seen at Casurina Sands were the same
birds that were later seen at Kambah, Point Hut, Angle Crossing. Were
those birds flying in from the Brindabellas, then south, do you think?
Anyway, this morning we drove to Point Hut, Tharwa Bridge and Angle
Crossing and at none of these places did we see migrating honey eaters. We
saw about 10, flying east at a point on the Boboyan Road, where there is a
pile of road metal, about 5kms south of Tharwa, where, on Monday, we had
seen about 100 birds fly across the road, in an easterly direction, in 20
minutes. (not a good sentence!)
We saw about 10 dusky wood swallows at the lookout, overlooking the crossing.
If as, Nicki thinks, the birds fly east from Casurina Sands, they should
surely be seen in the suburbs, even if they have spread out and are in
smaller flocks.
