On Friday I joined a friend fishing out of a canoe in the Murrumbidgee some 10 km downriver from Uriarra. Though bird watching wasn't the aim we had good views of a young Sea-eagle overhead and some of the expected bushbirds, most notable being several of both gerygones in full voice. Of more interest were: 1. State of the riparian vegetation - massive die-back of river oaks (remember the area was not affected by the 2003 fires). 2. We saw from close range at least 2 Platypi. 3. Viewed 3 Wallaroos 4. Caught and released relatively large Murrey Cod (one over 12 Kgs). BTW, there is a 10 Ha property for sale there at about 1.5 M$.
