Seeing Martin keep up with the mounted party while jogging with his bike in one hand was alone worth the price of admission. Other sightings included 10 bee-eaters at the Molonglo confluence, and just as we were saying the dollarbirds had all gone north there was one at that well-known dollarbirdy spot, and a Sac Kingfisher 'carrying food'. The nesting cormorants and darters were also at the appointed spot in the armpit of Black Mountain Pen. I am afraid the acting leader fell for the old 'hey look at all those white birds' trick at the mock cockatoo creation near the National Museum, but did manage, just, to keep Tony D and the remnants of the retreating party (3) out of the Cuiseum, John at that point having decided, Sir-Francis-Drake-like, to complete the circuit.
