In the absence of a response from experts, the stubble quails around
Dunlop can be heard, and occasionally seen, in the open grass grazing
paddocks between Dunlop and the ACT/NSW border. Pasture at present is
between half and one metre high. At times you can almost step on them
before they explode into flight up to about 3 metres above the ground for
up to a hundred metres before disappearing again.

As an ACT quail and Australian button-quail virgin, all this talk about
quails calling has whetted my appetite. I am interested in having a
look for these birds to rectify holes in my birding experience, so I would
appreciate information on suitable habitat in the ACT.
