Except for the crake/rail parade in the channel (minimums: 2 spotted, 2 Baillon's,1 Spotless and 1 BB Rail) a young Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo being fed by a fantail just before entering the Ardea hide. The rail, apparently a young bird, was lacking any breast band, duller than an adult  but nothing as the pallid as the depiction in the new Morcombe.

Should have waited a little longer...
I got to the inlet channel around 6.15 (I believe I passed you Ian on the way) and stayed until 6.45. I saw the Baillon's Crake, which didnt seem to mind wandering around in the open for the duration. A Spotless Crake showed itself several times, and I didnt have to wait long for the immature Buff-banded Rail to show itself. I then got several extended views. I then wandered around to Cygnus hide to watch the Black-winged Stilt. The usual ducks and dotterels were there (as mentioned in the past). On the far shore (SW) I watched another Buff-banded Rail wander in and among the tall grass and mudflat. Other birds in the fringing vegetation of Kelly's Swamp were 2 New Holland Honeyeaters, several Rufous Whistlers, Cisticolas and Double-barred Finches. As I left I heard a Little Corella fly over and encountered Kevin Windle on his way to check out the rails/crakes.

Cheers
Marnix

  Classification

This evening, 2 Spotteds, plus the Spotless and the juvenile Baillon's. No
rail...

Harvey's tree-climbing exploits have given me an idea! (Unfortunately these
days I'm better at ideas than climbing trees; sadly that gives some idea of
how my arboreal aptitude has degenerated.)  Would not an elevated crake hide
at the channel be a wondrous thing?!

cheers

Ian
