I had a 'green' SBB in my backyard in Cook a couple of years ago
(pre-fires). Have not had a repeat sighting.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Satin Bowerbird in north Canberra
Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2005 10:28:02 +1100
A first for my GBN. 1930 hrs on Sun 9 Jan 2004 heard a churring sound
outside . And there on a melaleuca was a young or female Satin Bowebird,
the first I've seen this far north in Canberra (Cook). A Red wattlebird was
not far behind.
The SBB then dropped down to the ground and made for the Daniella
tasmanica. There was a magic moment when its eye matched exactly the colour
of the fruit (Oh for a G.Dabb on hand!).
Meantime what looked like another SBB higher up in an E. polyanthemos was
chased off by a second RWB, and flew with a very direct flight.
Am hoping for a repeat sighting.
Muriel
