Greetings All!
Are there any others on the list who live in Macgregor or Dunlop close to
the proposed West Macgregor development area? The Ginninderra Catchment
Group is informally examining ways of monitoring the flora and fauna in the
proposed West Macregor Development area to guide the developers when they
start detailed planning. Hopefully it will be possible to dissuade them
from demolishing useful stands of trees and scrub and extending the
scorched earth practices of the fire prevention team that have removed most
of the low scrub within about 100 metres of the current Macgregor boundary
and banished many small bird species.
It is also hoped to monitor bird life along Ginninderra and Gooromon Creeks
down to Ginninderra Falls to help plan replanting along the creek.
If anyone walks in the area regularly and would like to get in touch
directly we could perhaps develop a database or at least a more extensive
outline of the bird life in this area than i have been able to build over
the past 3 years.
