G'day all Went for a wander around the NE outskirts of Watson and lower western Mt Majura on Saturday afternoon. Heaps of blossom but almost zero sightings of any specialist nectivores, until the last moment when I heard then saw two Little Lorikeets immediately adjacent to suburbia, behind Irvine St, on the NE outskirts of Watson. It seemed very bizarre not to see or hear a honeyeater the whole walk. Lots of breeding activity, Orioles, Grey Fantails, Noisy Friarbirds, Dollarbirds, Black-faced Cuckoo-Shrikes, Striated Thornbills. Very bizarre was seeing heaps of Starlings and Mynahs hawking quite high, Dusky Woodswallow style, presumable feeding on insects from blossoming eucs. Cheers, Lee |
