Location: On our Rockleigh property
Mistletoebird (Dicaeum hirundinaceum) (3) This is only the 3rd or 4th time we
have seen a mistletoebird on our property over 10 years - last seen 3 years
ago. An Acacia retinodes by the gate is being killed by the drought and by at
least 20 clumps of the mistletoe Amyema preissei, which is covered in luscious
white berries (luscious to mistletoebirds, I mean). There were 2 males and at
least 1 female having a feast.
Restless Flycatcher (Myiagra inquieta) (1) The restless flycatcher is another
infrequent visitor. Last time we saw it was September 2016. Anyway, it spent
the whole day flying between trees in the creek line, which are still nice and
green even thought the creek is dry as a bone.
