It appears that it was going to collect passengers and only the pilot was lost.

Given the weather was classed as poor at the time, it is strange that the pilot 
was taking the inland route [via the Arthur Range] rather than the coastal 
route. 

It is a sad event that will impact on bushwalkers, birdwatchers and OBP 
volunteers for a while.
