I took the Great Central Road from Uluru to the Heather Highway in May.

We camped and bought fuel at Kaltukatjara (Docker River) and Warburton.
Warburton is a gated caravan park and Kaltukatjara is bush camping with
toilets, depending on the availability of water.

Warakurna roadhouse does good takeaway lunches but it is very difficult to stop
there without buying at least one of the superb Aboriginal paintings. Giles
Weather Station is worth a visit.

We were on a fairly tight schedule and my travelling companions aren't birders
so my observations on the GCR were casual and not terribly exciting. The Grey
Falcon on the Carnegie Glen-Ayle Road a few days after leaving the GCR was a
different matter!!!

Cheers

David
