Australasian Ornithological Conference 2015
BirdLife Australia, in collaboration with Birds New Zealand, is committed to
holding biennial conferences that provide a regular forum for the exchange of
information and ideas between avian-based researchers and conservationists
throughout the Australasian region. The conferences are held in a variety of
venues to give attendees an opportunity to explore the diverse birdlife in the
region. This year the AOC will be held in Adelaide, South Australia on the
campus of Flinders University. The scientific program will runWednesday 25th
to Friday 27th November and field trips will run 28th-29th November.
Conference program highlights include a diverse range of short plenary lectures
on topics ranging from woodland bird and penguin conservation, invasive
species, sex and speciation, avian palaeobiology, evolutionary ecology, and
stress. Dr. Stephen Murphy will deliver a special lecture on the latest
discoveries on the elusive and mysterious night parrot. Field trip options
include the Murray River mouth and lower lakes region, wetlands and woodlands
(Adelaide Hills).
