Hi all,

A post mainly concerning Melbourne birders, but still potentially valuable
information for interstate listers! Song Thrush appears to be an
increasingly difficult bird to track down, particularly for those in the
South East side of Melbourne. I think it's scarcity is due to the
decreasing amount of English styled gardens in Melbourne. I know it's a
'plastic' - but it's a nice plastic with a pretty song and counts the same
as an Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross in the listing scheme of things!

Having said all that, for those that don't want to travel out to Sunshine,
Caroline Springs and other suburbs in Melbourne's west where their numbers
are still 'ok' - I've been having a lot of luck with Song Thrush at
Dandenong Valley Wetlands recently and according to other eBird sightings,
it appears I'm not the only one.

I photographed a pair in a small bushy area near the footy oval here only
yesterday -37.919706, 145.202305

Saw another here last week -37.916840, 145.202361

And heard another calling from approx this location -37.913981, 145.203567

To access DVW, drive down Wellington Rd and turn onto Garnett Rd. I usually
park at the car park next to the sports ovals and head in from there.

Hope that interests some birders!

All the best,
James Mustafa
