Kookaburra?

I would not be surprised if it was an Owlet-Nightjar. Many times I have had
them flying around the campsite at night making calls that are not in the

Hi Bill,
We sometimes get winter records of the White-throated Nightjar on the New
South Wales north coast and I have had a breeding record in August but I
would be surprised if they over-wintered as far south as Victoria. Maybe
they do!!!
