Hi all, I was camping at Roaring Meg on Monday night when a bird called. It was
about 2am, and cloudy, so it was dark. By the sound of it, the bird was flying
around the campsite. The call sounded a bit (actually quite a lot) like Spotted
Nightjars I've heard in the Big Desert, so I guessed it was a White Throated,
which would have been a tick. But - no see, no tick.

But aren't they a Summer visitor? Does anyone know if some of these birds
overwinter, and if not, what the bird could have been?

Bill
