The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, May 4, 2015 to Sunday, May 10, 2015:
Area: SA
Date: Sunday, May 3, 2015
Location: On our Rockleigh property
Whistling Kite (Haliastur sphenurus) (1) This was only the second whistling
kite we have seen at our place. It was cruising around taking little notice of
the harassing magpie. A little later a brown falcon flew at high speed along
the creekline with 3 magpies in hot pursuit. Third raptore was a wedge-tailed
eagle, rapidly seen off our land by, guess what, a magpie. Why do raptores put
up with it ? If wedgies retaliated and ate a few magpies, would that act as a
deterrent ?
