Jason, what state are you in? I would have thought major sightings would be on 
Eremaea's Birdline pages. You could also try eBird 
(http://ebird.org/content/ebird/), which is where most surveys seem to be 
entered these days.

You can ask here for information about particular areas, and there's likely to 
be a Facebook group for your state too.
