Phil the dead cats next to the road kill are also road kill and it is not
unusual to see the carcase of the roo moving after everything has fled and a
cat
will appear from inside the rib cage.
People in the cities do not realize how big some of these cats grow living
on high protein diets in the wild, a tom can average over 6 Kg and female 4
to 5 kg
monsters have been caught with huge dimensions weighing 20 kg ( 50 lb ) and
with tails 600 to 700 ml long , held at shoulder height their noses will
touch the ground.
They average two litters a year and more if food is unlimited, some have
been found with 25 skinks, dragons etc as well as grasshoppers, scorpions
etc in their gut.
There is other problems facing the eradication of the feral cats and that is
Bureaucrats and Bleeding Hearts, when talking to a ranger at "Adel Grove" he
was telling me
about the biggest cat he had ever seen and when asked why he did not shoot
it he stated that time he gets permission from head office to fire a gun in
N. P. it was days
wasted and not worth all the paper work.
I have a good mate that was talking to the top man in the appropriate

I passed the newspaper article to a mate in Melbourne and he tells me of his
friends who were travelling through "Mungo National Park" N S W and ranger
told them of seeing
three wild cats bring down a roo, it was a first for them.
They had been trapping dozens and putting them down humanely as by the book.
Someone (Greenies) decided there must be a better way ?????
Their traps have been in the shed for month until someone decides what to
do.
Very sad but typical of the dudes that now run Oz, to many decisions being
made by inner city latte sippers that don't know dirt from clay.
This is not a new problem it has been epidemic for years, 30 years ago the
army were brought in to shoot the cats sitting in the Letter-winged Kites
nests around the Birdsville area.
