Best time to visit Iron Range

Hi All,

When would be the optimum time to visit the Iron Range optimistically to see 
all the endemic species
Understanding that the wet season will restrict visit to Flying in to Lockhardt 
River and hiring a car.
We will have limited time so if we do drive up (from Brisbane ) we will just 
focus on area from Musgrave to Iron Range
All tips and tricks will be welcome
