Pied Cormorant
Black Mountain Peninsula
Incidental observation of a lone Pied Cormorant feeding in the water about 10m from the shore at the very tip of Black Mountain Peninsula. Large black and white cormorant with long greyish bill and yellow facial skin.

Purple-crowned Lorikeet
Cook
Two Purple-crowns associating with two Musk Lorikeets at the flowering tree in Cook. Fairly brief but nice views, allowing for some photos. With a birder from Townsville, Stanley, a very unexpected and nice lifer for him (and me!)

Purple-crowned Lorikeet

Several birds in flowering Ironbark and in flight. The Ironbark is just inside the bike path/reserve that crosses Lyttleton Crescent between Wybalena Grove and Cambridge St. These birds have been present for several days (but only had a chance to see them this morning). The flowering tree is a few steps uphill from the bus stop on Lyttleton Crescent (the bus stop that is a single seat not the concrete pillar box bus stop).

Brown Quail
Dunlop grasslands, Jarramlee Homestead Rd, Dunlop
Brown Quail (2) was walking in and out the grass for about 10 min that we watched them [Moderator's comment: Whilst Brown Quail are not uncommon in suitable habitat in the ACT, it is unusual to be able to observe them for such an extended period of time.]
