They are largely missing in south west WA this season. I have only
seen one just north of the Stirling Range in early October. None
between Geraldton and Mt Magnet at the same time where I would expect some.
Rufous Songlarks are not as common as last year, but that was
probably exceptional, and they are certainly around in a number of places.
White-winged Trillers are in lower numbers than usual.
Sacred Kingfisher is possibly in lower numbers.
Good numbers of Tree Martins, seems to be good numbers of Rainbow Bee-eaters.
Cuckoos seem to be in lower numbers, or at least more silent than
usual, especially Pallid.
It has been a massive year for White-necked Herons in the SW. A
count of 500 the other day at Forrestdale Lake in the south of Perth,
and widespread through the south west.
Black-tailed Native-hens have also been quite widespread, but this is
probably a carry over from last year.
