Shining Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx lucidus) (1) forested parkland on W side of 
Port MacDonnell

Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx basalis) (1) coastal scrub near Port 
MacDonnell

Fan-tailed Cuckoo (Cacomantis flabelliformis) (1) coastal scrub near Port 
MacDonnell

Little Grassbird (Megalurus gramineus) (1) heard calling in sedge swamp on W 
side of Port MacDonnell

Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) (44) Port MacDonnell foreshore and several 
km E

Red-necked Stint (Calidris ruficollis) (350) Port MacDonnell foreshore and 
several km E

Red-capped Plover (Charadrius ruficapillus) (34) coastal foreshore at Port 
MacDonnell-roost in kelp beds with stints and turnstones.

scrub/shrubland surrounding Port MacDonnell

Forest Raven (Corvus tasmanicus) (2) forested parkland near Port MacDonnell

Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis) (3) coastal scrub on outskirts of 
Port MacDonnell

Golden-headed Cisticola (Cisticola exilis) (6) sedge covered wetland near Port 
MacDonnell

Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) (3) on shallow seas within Port 
MacDonnell marina

Grey Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) (11) coastal shore immediately E of Port 
MacDonnell

Pacific Golden Plover (Pluvialis fulva) (1) coastal shore about 5 km E of Port 
MacDonnell

Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea) (5) coastal shore between three and five 
km E of Port MacDonnell

Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus) (3) coastal foreshore at Port MacDonnell

Little Wattlebird (Anthochaera chrysoptera) (3) Port MacDonnell gardens

Location: Big Bend Murray River (SA)

Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus) (1) Two pair seen twice over a two week 
period

Restless Flycatcher (Myiagra inquieta) (1) A pair were seen nesting in the tall 
gums near the cliffs they were heard every day and very active over a two week 
period

Yellow-billed Spoonbill (Platalea flavipes) (1) Had two visits and was feeding 
in the billabong, saw many other species of bird that are very common to the 
area, but these 4 are rare visitors to the property

Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) (1) We heard them over the whole two 
weeks up and down the river but only saw them twice, got some great photos

Location: Island Beach, Kangaroo Island

Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) (1) 3 Adults seen feeding at waters edge 
with 30 Red-capped plovers and 3 Pied Oystercatchers

Pied Oystercatcher (Haematopus longirostris) (1) nesting. 2 runners seen and 
the next day a hatchling and egg seen in scrape that adult vacated to pursue 
two other Pied Oystercatchers. 5 Pied Oystercatchers hanging around the beach.

Location: Gawler Bike Path

White-winged Triller (Lalage tricolor) (1) Adult male seen alongside the Gawler 
Bike Path near the BMX track in a peppercorn tree.  Was being occasionally 
harassed by a Magpie Lark.

Location: Tangari Regional Pk Woodcroft

Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) (1) A large dark individual presumably a 
female, my attention was drawn to the bird by it calling. First time I have 
seen this species in this location, in fact first time I have seen a Peregrine 
in such closed woodland and unusual for it to be calling,it flew very soon 
after sighting to the usual mass hysteria of local honeyeaters.

Sanderling (Calidris alba) (1) Seal Bay beach, Kangaroo Island, first sighted 3 
Oct 13-still present 12 Oct 13

Short-tailed Shearwater (Puffinus tenuirostris) (20000) on 3 Oct 13 an 
estimated 20,000 migrated W past Cape du Couedic, Flinders Chase NP, Kangaroo 
Island, during one hour-constant stream of birds travelling to breeding islands 
off southern SA/WA-same scenario witnessed again on 14 Oct 13.

Great-winged Petrel (Pterodroma macroptera) (1) in Backstairs Passage, Kangaroo 
Island, flying W, 7 Oct 13 -viewed from Sealink Ferry.

Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami) (11) flew over friends house in 
dense SA Blue Gum forest/ Drooping Sheoak woodland, 1km upstream from Demole 
River mouth, NW Kangaroo Island, 8 Oct 13

Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) (2) breeding: pair incubating eggs W of 
Harriet River Mouth, Kangaroo Island, 13 Oct 13

Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (35) standing in tight roost 
and later several feeding, shallow flood waters of Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo 
Island, 27 Sept 13

Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) (c 50) nesting in sodden green 
pasture along shoreline of extensively flooded paddocks, Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo 
Island, 27 Sept 13; several nests seen contained clutches of 3 and 4 eggs.

Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca) (c 30) distant view of birds 
nesting in flooded paperbarks, SW sector of Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo Island, 27 
Sept 13

Common Blackbird (Turdus merula) (2) in flooded paperbarks at Rush Lagoon, 
Kangaroo Island, 27 Sept 13.

Banded Stilt (Cladorhynchus leucocephalus) (2) roosting with Red-necked 
Avocets, shallow flood waters of Rush Lagoon, Kangaroo Island, 27 Sept 13
