Eastern Grass-Owl flew from swamp ricegrass and flew off southwest before dropping into distant grasses this morning

Little Grassbird near hide in Tyto today after being spotted by DPITB party over the weekend. Thanks, folks!

A family - two adults and one chick near creek (not far from main road) around 5 pm.

Mon 7 Oct Little Grassbird Tyto Wetlands, Ingham
Little Grassbird (1) Birdlife Photography DPITB outing. Early morning birding walk around Tyto Wetlands. First seen by Janet Robino. Several people then confirmed this Little Grassbird at Tyto Wetlands early on Monday morning 07 October 2013. It was about 40metres distant, straight across the water from the viewing mound. Len Ezzy's ID photo(s) attached.

Sun 6 Oct Tooth-billed Bowerbird Paluma Forest Reserve 10' Cell
On Sunday 6th 3 observers walked H track listening for Tooth-billed Bowerbirds and found 3 birds - 4 found on Monday 7th. They were very active and vocal. Photographed and recorded by Ian Montgomery

Male and female Little Bitterns seen close to hide early today. Sightings elsewhere by Birdlifers confirm at least 2 pairs resident in scleria, main lagoon.

Thu 3 Oct Southern Cassowary Mount Hypipamee National Park (The Crater)
Southern Cassowary (3). Driving towards Atherton about 1km from Mt. Hypipamee, found a dead juvenile cassowary with dad and two others looking. I moved the bird into the forest to avert dad and the chicks being killed. Very tragic. Hope the others don't get killed this way.

Quick scoot past the swamp to see the Freckled Duck. Saw Freckled Duck (1) On the log to the south of the hide.
