Dear Peter,
I'd love a copy of your report (with pics, email is fine). Some of my
best ever birding memories arer from Keki Lodge.
I post this back to the list because the answer to your question about
travellingbirder may be of general interest. About 6 months ago some
Belgian birders launched a replacement and upgrade to
travellingbirder. It is an awesome resource that indexes over 10,000
reports to date.

In late July I went on a privately organised trip to Papua New Guinea for a
week. Sites visited were Madang, Keki Lodge (in the Adelbert Ranges), Port
Moresby (including Pacific Adventist University), Varirata NP and Brown River.
It was an amazing introduction to this country, though also some of the more
challenging birding that I have done (a combination of manyunfamiliar
species/calls, poor viewings because of bad light and incredibly shy birds due
to high hunting pressure). If I could get permission I would go back again
tomorrow as it was a fantastic trip.
A summary of stats was as follows:
174 species seen
83 new species
48 species where at least one new subspecies seen
21
species heard only (13/7 as above)
Highlights were many but the best species seen (in no particular order) -
Brown-headed Paradise-Kingfisher, Goldenface, Fire-maned Bowerbird, Moustached
Treeswift, Emperor Fairywren and Blyth's Hornbill (amongst a host of other
great birds)
I have copies of trip reports with (1.85MB) or without (175KB) if anyone is
interested in a copy - I would pot on Travelling Birder but this site now
appears to be defunct - any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Around the trip alos had a couple of days in Cairns which allowed some adding
of species to my annual Australian list - results were 152 species in just over
2 days (including a day on the Atherton Tableland) - a separate report (82KB)
is also available if anyone is interested.
Cheers,
Peter
