Sun 18 Aug	Metallic Starling Mount Lewis My first Metallic Starling of the season. Small flock of about 15 birds flew over the track about 5 km up from Bushy Creek bridge. (Moderator Note: Metallic Starling were in this area from at least 4th August). Doug Herrington
Sat 17 Aug	Mangrove Robin Cairns Esplanade Two birds very accomodating for photos at the northern end of the Esplanade where the Mangroves begin. Bernie O'Keefe
	Great-billed Heron Cairns Airport After getting off the plane this morning, I dropped into the Mangrove Boardwalk just near the airport. Excited to say that my first photo taken in Cairns was of a Great-billed Heron. It was skulking around the creek where the boardwalk first joins the creek. It was the first of many great birds photographed during the day. (Moderator Note:- Great-billed Heron are believed to breed around the Cairns Airport in the mangroves as two juvenile birds have been seen previously with adults here). Bernie O'Keefe
Thu 15 Aug	Yellow Chat Mungalla Station (Forrest Beach, Queensland) Yellow Chat male seen flying to hymenachne in North East corner of Mungalla Station wetlands this morning. Good views from distance. Poor pictures. (Morerators' Note: - This sighting represents a significant range extension) Tony Ashton
Tue 13 Aug	Curlew Sandpiper Mungalla Station (Forrest Beach, Queensland) Curlew Sandpiper standing with 8 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers on edge of mud island at Mungalla Station today. First sandpipers of the season. Also pair Red-capped Plover. Tony Ashton
Sun 11 Aug	Purple Swamphen Blakey Crossing, Townsville Purple Swamphen (25) minimum; possibly 30 - at Blakeys Crossing where bulkaroo reeds have been cut down ahead of flood mitigation works. Largest number I have seen in the Townsville area; up from 11 birds seen the previous Sunday. Alexandra Canton
	Superb Fruit-Dove Townsville Town Common Conservation Park, Payets Tower. A friend and photographer, Paul Freeman, sent me a photo of a bird he could not identify. The bird was photographed in a tree on the side of the pathway into Payets Tower on the Town Common. By the photo the bird looks to be a young male. Sun 4 Aug	Metallic Starling Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge 5 flew over the Lodge grounds, 1st here for the season. Keith Fisher
