Thu 13 Sep Southern Cassowary, Golden Bowerbird Paluma Township and Environs 1' Cell
Southern Cassowary (1) male, just east of the village at noon. Stepped off the road into the rain forest where it remained for several minutes. Rarely reported from the Paluma area and the first either of us had seen there. Golden Bowerbird (1) Male active at bower, Birthday Creek around 10 AM. ***** Please note the area is slowly recovering after TC Yasi Feb 11. The bowerbird was on a favourite branch overlooking its display bower and was seen well from the track. Please keep to the track to avoid unnecessary disturbance.
