Published sightings for the week ending 16 Sep 2012.

Sat 15 Sep Banded Lapwing Canberra International airport
Banded Lapwing 2x Adults, and at least 2 (maybe 4) offspring. Hard to tell as Pipits nearby, and just see them bobbing in and out of view in the grass, and at least 30m beyond the fence. Hopefully someone with a good camera can get some better pictures.

Sat 15 Sep Red-capped Robin Mulligan's Flat Sanctuary
An adult male Red-capped Robin displaying territorial behaviour was present at the COG bird walk marker #5 in Mulligan's Flat.

Rufous Songlark Mulligan's Flat Sanctuary
A furtive male Rufous Songlark was observed in the heart of Mulligan's Flat Sanctuary in long grass. Presumably a returning migrant, this species is rarely seen at Mulligan's Flat.

Wed 12 Sep White-bellied Sea-eagle Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
Single bird observed a number of times over 'Black Flats' & 'The Sanctuary' over the last 2 days.

One bird.

Whistling Kite Kowen Pine Forest
A single Whistling Kite seen soaring and calling above Old Quarry Road, Kowen Pine Forest (restricted vehicle access) at approximately 10:00 this morning. Whistling call quite distinct. Without binoculars, the only description I have to offer of this particular bird was its long rounded tail, and typical 'M' shaped pale brown underwing.

A sub-adult White-bellied Sea-Eagle was soaring over Acton at 12:55 today. It departed northwards, in the general direction of Lake Ginninderra.

A Great Egret was at the northern end of Lake Tuggeranong this morning.

Mon 10 Sep White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Red-necked Stint Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant
1 adult White-bellied Sea-Eagle flew over. 1 Red-necked Stint only - its compatriot seems to have moved on (poor photo attached - I'm sure there are much better ones around as this bird has been heavily photographed by many observers).

Great Egret (2) a pair seen feeding in the reeds in Pond 5 and now only 1 Red-necked Stint present on Pond 7.

A female Rose Robin was foraging with a flock of Yellow-rumped Thornbills adjacent to the cycle path behind Brindabella Christian College in Lyneham.
