I was on my way home last night, struggling up the bike path from the Fairfield 
pipe bridge to the Boulevard (on the Kew side of the Yarra actually) when a 
Wedge-Tailed Eagle went over my head at below-canopy height.  It glided down 
the hill, still under the canopy, towards the the pipe bridge. I turned around 
and followed, but lost it pretty much straight away.  It was about 5pm and 
dusk, so it may have roosted in the area..

I've never seen one here before - never even close.  I don't think I've seen 
one at Banyule either, closest I've seen them on the Yarra is Warrandyte.

You know what, when a WTE goes over your head at about 5 metres you duck, even 
though you don't need to.  It's a bit like standing at the bottom of a runway - 
they're enormous!
