Diamond Dove (7) posibly more, with peaceful doves about halfway between 2cnd viewpoint and freshwater carpark.

Grey Goshawk (white phase)
On Kings Rd between Fulham Rd and Palmerston St Pimlico, Townsville Qld
Bird was spotted perched on top of an electricity pole and was easily approached and watch for about 2 minutes before it flew off over the roof tops of the suburb. Unfortunately did not have a camera. Would have been a splendid opportunity for good photographs.

Private Property - Kelso Qld
While spotlighting about 7.00pm, three birds were seen within 300 metres in wheel ruts on a track in a grassy paddock of the property.

Rufous Owl
Cairns Esplanade across the road from Hospital
Varied Honeyeaters alerted me of this bird, they chased it to another fig tree where It stayed for the rest of the day. Not often seen on the Cairns Esplanade. The fig tree is just in front of the Cairns Base Hospital

Diamond Dove
Maryfarms, betweem Mt. Molloy and Mt. Carbine
40+ Diamond Dove were reported by Carol Iles at Maryfarms on 20th June and a follow up by the observer found 16 Diamond Dove on the corner of West Mary Road and Butchers Creek Road the following day. It is unusual to have this species this far east and even more unusual to have this large number. Whilst I have had a few previous sightings in this area, they have been of a single bird.

Herveys Range Road - 3.5 km west of Black River Road
Single bird low over road - maintained view for 3 minutes. Rarely reported in this locality.

Olive-backed Oriole
Anderson Park Botanical Gardens, Mundingburra
In large tree, right hand side of road, towards the Balls Lane eastern end. Was calling. Beak not yet red, but otherwise bold markings. 5:30pm

Peregrine Falcon, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Black-shouldered Kite
Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Early afternoon. Sunny. A host of Magpie Geese, Egrets, Darter, Australasian Grebe, Comb-crested Jacana in and around water in front of Observation Tower. Peregrine came hunting over the water very fast from right hand side of tower.
Wedge-tailed Eagle also hunting low to right of tower and caught prey on ground.
The Black-shouldered Kite (a lot of grey on wings) was in dead tree on left before entering the Common gate.

Opposite observation tower. 4 birds. 2 adults and 2 juveniles.
Early afternoon. Probably teaching juvs to hunt. Lots of small birds around as well including Scarlet Honeyeater and Sunbird.
