Birdline Western Australia

Published sightings for the week ending 17 Jun 2012.

Wed 13 Jun (Possible) Brown Booby Mangles Bay, beach in front of Yacht club yard in Point Peron Rd, Rockingham, Western Australia
My partner and I are experienced long distance sailors and having sailed across northern waters and lived in on a boat in NT - we know what a Brown Booby looks like. Three birds were sighted today, after the storm subsided, feeding hungrily, quite close to the beach near the yacht club yard. Unfortunately a camera was not at hand to take a photo. Birds were seen by other people at the YC too. This would appear to be well outside their normal range, so probably an important sighting. [Mod note: please note this report needs verification.]
Reported by Snez Plunkett, for Ashley Cargill.
