Last weekend, rescuers at Lake Buloke, northern Victoria, found four dead
Pink-eared Ducks, three wounded birds that couldn't be caught and three wounded
birds that were caught and taken to a wildlife facility for treatment and
rehabilitation.
I applaud their efforts to try and prevent the needless suffering of our
waterbirds. If there were a million PE Ducks in Victoria, the mutilation and
slow death of even one isn't justifiable.
The last weekend of the season is the upcoming Queen's Birthday long weekend,
which is expected to draw hunters to many wetlands.
