Published sightings for the week ending 19 Feb 2012.

Sun 19 Feb Large-tailed Nightjar, Bar-breasted Honeyeater, Black-chinned Honeyeater Granitevale 10' Cell
Large-tailed Nightjar (1) Flushed twice on easten side of road (about 30 metres in from road) near new concrete causeway. Confirmed white in wings and tail. Bar-breasted Honeyeater (1) Alerted by an unfamiliar call. On investigation we found one immature individual perched on top of small paperbark tree. Good views of the bird for about 10 seconds, noting especially the streaked breast. No time for photo. Black-chinned Honeyeater (25) Unusually high numbers in several locations beside Granitevale Road.

Fri 17 Feb Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher Paluma Range National Park (Little Crystal Creek)
Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher calling from valley near carpark - known nesting site further uphill

Sun 12 Feb Rufous Owl 6km north of Isabella Falls, north of Cooktown
A gorgeous immature female Rufous Owl was observed perched low down in vineforest bordering dry woodland 3km along the McIvor River Rd from Battlecamp Rd. Always a special bird to see given its rarity, & a great experience at such close quarters for over 15 minutes.
