Sat 21 Jan Cape Barren Goose, Hooded Plover, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater Waterhouse Conservation Area
Cape Barren Goose (19) { (4) at Homestead RD entrance, (2) Herbies Landing, (13) Big Waterhouse Lake } Hooded Plover (4) Herbies Landing, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater (8) near Little Waterhouse Lake 'turn off' .

Yellow-billed Spoonbill Blackmans Lagoon, Waterhouse Conservation Area.
Yellow-billed Spoonbill (1) - first observed flying high over the lagoon at approximately 06:30 am. I did not notice it land but spotted it again through the scope around 30 minutes later as it waded through the shallows along the the eastern shore of the lagoon. Excellent views and the first time I have personally observed this species in Tasmania. Also worthy of note, was (1) Australasian Bittern heard calling at around 06:00 am.

Tue 10 Jan Kelp Gull Sisters Island, Rocky Cape Nat Park.
2-4 adult birds present on this island for the last few years and also on rocks near Rocky Cape itself. Not yet observed to be breeding. Very seldom seen or heard on the NW Tas mainland.

Mon 19 Sep Yellow-Faced Honeyeater Sisters Creek road bridge
Bird calling upstream on private land. Presume same bird as was seen and heard at this site last year in Oct and Nov. Sp seen here also about 40y ago.

Thu 15 Sep Painted Button-Quail near Wet Cave, Rocky Cape National Park
Birds not seen or heard but platelets very obvious in dirt. Species heard calling here in past.

Wed 27 Jul Sacred Kingfisher Detention R estuary in NW.
And again on 16 Aug and 20 Aug. This sp last seen by me in Tas 25y ago.

Single bird roosting with Black-Faced Cormorants.
