Many years ago, and in rather strong winds, I watched a Arctic Tern here in N. 
Norway fishing from an overhead wire, almost as if he were a Kingfisher. This 
was over a narrow passage with some current (salt water). i remember that it 
looked quite handy, and I wondered why terns had not'discovered' this use of 
wires more regularly. But I have not seen it since.

Chris Sanderson & I had a Common Tern perched on telegraph wires at North
Arm, on the Sunshine Coast. I've not seen terns of any species doing this

We also saw Square-tailed Kite and a pair of Bush-hens in the North Arm
area.
