Hi Birders,
A huge wildfire has torn through Owen Springs Reserve south of Alice Springs
over the last 48 hours. As I write that fire front is now making its way along
the Ooraminna Range and appears to be on a beeline for the Rufous-crowned
Emu-wren sites along the Santa Teresa Road. There are other sites for Emu-wrens
around Alice but to see so much habitat destroyed like this will be a terrible
blow to the population. Fingers-crossed the wind changes direction in time...
For fire updates see- http://www.firenorth.org.au/nafi2/
