Wed 10 Aug Pied Currawong Whyanbeel
Single bird seen close to Karnak Playhouse. Have lived in the area for almost 3 years and this is the first one I've seen on the coastal strip; all of my other sightings have been up on the Tablelands.
Peter Houston

Sun 7 Aug "Black" Blue-winged Kookaburra Mona Park, west of Ayr
This "black" bird has been only 20m from my kitchen window all morning. There is a cane paddock along side the house and we began watering the cane this morning. There are a few mango trees beside the paddock (close to the house) and the water has been trickling onto the grass beside / beneath the mango trees. The black kookaburra has been sitting in the mango trees all morning catching lizards etc being flushed out by the water, truly a lovely sight to see.
Pippa Tomasetig
